Hi everyone,

I planted my fall Phytopod-2 and -3 a few weeks ago (@ 8/29th).  This is my first fall season planting in the Washington DC area.  Hardiness Zone 7-8.  I'll keep you updated as everything grows but as you can see there's definitely space to plant a lot more. We had nearly a week of steady rain in DC and to compensate for over watering, I rolled the Phytopod's under my patio roof to prevent them from getting too soaked.  The temperature is now averaging between 65 and 75 Celsius.  As a gardener, even in the fall, its a joy to watch your hard work grow!

Hi Shirley, adding the potting mix does make is much heavier. The Phytopod's themselves weigh 8-12 lbs per box. There are also fairly light potting mixes you can choose to use.  What variety of uses do you see using them for? I bet you have lots of great ideas.

These planters look light weight (except for the soil). I can see  a variety of uses for this.

Torch Cactus: Beautiful Flowers Among Thorns

Torch cactus pink flower among a heavy thorn plant

Torch cactus flowers are breathtakingly beautiful and a shock to some people when they see them attached to the plant that bears them. Sharp thorns protect the plant from animals, thirsty for the water encapsulated in the succulent body of the Trichocereus. As an added bonus, the thorns provide shade, acting as a natural lath [...]
