Vertical Home Gardens from the @Phytopod-grower

Vertical Gardening in an amazing way! There is something just beautiful about vertical   gardens. Living in the city for most of my life and in an area where there was limited space for gardening it wasn't until two years ago that I discovered vertical gardening as a way to enjoy growing my own vegetables and herbs. There is just something very special to the mind and eye when I could see my plants growing vertically.  It was like discovering a new way for nature to reach for the sun. I enjoyed watching everything grow just as much as I enjoyed eating fresh lettuce, basil, mint, strawberries and peas from my own garden every day. Do visit http://www.facebook.com/phytopod for pictures of my vertical gardens.  You can also find them for purchase at www.verticalhomegardens.com -@Phytopod-grower,  Julie

Hi Everyone, if you are in the Washington DC area this weekend, please stop by our booth #E17 at the Adams Morgan Day Festival, Sunday, September 11th.  Come see live Phytopods! I recently planted them with lots of fall vegetables and they look lovely.  I"ll share my pictures with you very soon.  http://www.adamsmorgandayfestival.com/

Your place sounds lovely and yes, some veggies are as beautiful as landscape plants.  I currently live in the city so my space for growing and farming is still very limited.  My business partner, the biotechnologist has been working on a new hydroponic Phytopod model and if you like the look and function of the Phytopod, you'll really love our new hydroponic model.  If you are interested I'll let you know when the new models are ready for purchase.  With your experience I'd love for you to try it.

I will get pics up soon, Just harvested my hydrostacker to move it to a better location so it's pretty empty right now. Plan to fill it with all herbs. We have horses, goats & pigs so we use up everything we grow. Some of the veggies are as beautiful as our landscape plants don't you think?

Thanks Lisa.  I'd love to see pictures of your garden. It is visually intriguing how plants look when they grow vertically. Whenever we put them in a garden show the attention they would receive was pretty amazing.  I actually enjoyed looking at them more than I could ever enjoy all the produce. As such, I always had a lot more lettuce than I needed for my burgers. :)

Love it! We vertical garden a few different ways including hydro-stackers & old fashioned growing vines on lattice. This looks very interesting & I like that the "planter" kind of disappears once the plants take over.

Torch Cactus: Beautiful Flowers Among Thorns

Torch cactus pink flower among a heavy thorn plant

Torch cactus flowers are breathtakingly beautiful and a shock to some people when they see them attached to the plant that bears them. Sharp thorns protect the plant from animals, thirsty for the water encapsulated in the succulent body of the Trichocereus. As an added bonus, the thorns provide shade, acting as a natural lath [...]
